Superfluidez en la Realidad

Leo en Slashdot que investigadores de la Universidad de Rice [Texas, EEUU] han experimentado con estados de superfluidez en gas de 6 Li.

Enfriados a temperaturas cercanas al cero absoluto, los fermiones superan su tendencia a repelerse. Estas partículas de medio-spin empiezan a ser dominadas por la fuerza Fuerte y a agruparse en pares que se comportan como una partícula. Los mayores beneficios del estado de superfluidez incluyen superconductividad, un estado en el cual los electrones fluirían sin ninguna resistencia, así preservando la mayor cantidad de carga eléctrica durante su paso y dándonos la habilidad de ahorrar mucho dinero en electricidad perdida. A pesar de que las condiciones para que exista superfluidez remotamente se pueden dar fuera del laboratorio, futuras investigaciones podrían brindarnos superfluidez a temperatura ambiente.

¿Cajas de cereal animadas?

Leo en Slashdot que pronto existirán cajas de cereales con papel electrónico. De todas maneras, se nota que los del emisferio norte son fanáticos por los cereales, se me antoja algún uso más útil. Como conos de confort con el diccionario de la RAE.

Dejandose de pelotudeces, hay 2 e-books basados en e-paper: el iRex y los Hanlin V8/V2, porfín con el PDF al váter.

Linus Torvalds penquea a GNOME

En barrapunto, SlashDot ha salido destacada esta penqueada y esta otra penqueada a los desarrolladores de GNOME, como dice el mismísimo: Esta mentalidad de Gnome de 'los usuarios son idiotas y están confundidos con la funcionalidad' es una enfermedad. Si piensas que tus usuarios son idiotas, sólo los idiotas lo usarán.

Las 10 verdades de los administradores de sistemas

He aquí la verdad, realmente las 10 verdades de los administradores de sistemas, las cuales son:

Los Usuarios mienten (Amén!).
Los e-mail son vitales para los no-techies.
Las impresoras apestan.
La limpieza es divinidad.
Los respaldos son cruciales.
Los Switchs y Hubs (usualmente) mueren puerto a puerto.
Nadie ha sido despedido por compar Microsoft (lamentablemente).
Cortesía > Brevedad.
Conoce tus necesidades (o aprende Linux).
El Santo Grial del Soporte Técnico es... el Reiniciar el Equipo.

Ya pronto los traduzco enteros (osea, con explicación) y se los regalo a todos mis clientes y amigos no-techies.
